Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why is the site done in grey? Isn't that a little drab?
A. Yes, it is drab. The simple truth is that I wanted the site to match the image of the half-full glass and I was not successful in coloring it. I went way past the point where "80% of the good comes from 20% of the effort," so I gave up for now and went with grey. I also wanted to avoid any hint of black-and-white thinking :-)

Q. Is this for real?
A. Depends on what you mean by "real." Do I believe that seeing glasses as half full matters? You bet. Is there really a Society? No, at least not yet. I developed the name and the web site so that when I talk with groups, I would have a business card to give them to help them remember to practice thinking positively.

Q. How can I join?
A. You're not reading these in order, are you. Well, at the moment, membership is sort of honorary. If you come hear me talk about positive attitude, I'll give you a card. Maybe someday, if I have a lot of extra time, I'll develop a mailing list and send out "helpful hints" every month. But at the moment I don't get new ideas that often and I don't have time to maintain a mailing list. But who knows-if you check back every few months, you just might find that there is some kind of membership or mailing list. (And if not, you're going to be thankful for what you find here anyway, right?)

Q. Why did you choose this name?
A. Because I believe that a teacher (that's one of the things I am) can't stoop too low to help someone remember something important. If a poor, slightly off-color pun sticks in even one person's mind and helps them, I'll be delighted. (After all, that would be taking the positive view, wouldn't it?)
